Haritomeni meaning and name origin
Derived from Greek χαρις (charis) meaning "grace, kindness". This was the name of a 1st-century Greek novelist.
In Greek mythology, a Charis is one of several Charites (Χάριτες; Greek: "Graces"), goddesses of charm, beauty, nature, human creativity and fertility, and in Homer's Iliad, Charis is the wife of Hephaestus.[1] Charis is also the Spartan name of a Grace
Origin of name
Saint Chariton the Confessor (Greek: Αγιος Χαρίτων) (3rd century, Iconium, Asia Minor, 4th century) is a Christian saint. His remembrance day is September 28.[1]
In 275, during a pilgrimage from Jerusalem, Chariton was abducted by bandits and brought to a cave in the Farra Valley. Tradition states that his abductors died by drinking wine that was poisoned by a snake. Chariton decided to remain a hermit in the cave after this miraculous death of his abductors

Nameday: 28th of September.
Haritomeni is a down to earth person and seeks for realistic goals in her life. She has a good heart and she is very social, and usually has a lot of friends of both sexes.

Χρόνια πολλά/Happy name day to our lovely Haritomeni ♥

Haritomeni
HARITOMENI  has been a hard working donkey for over 30 years, she comes from Skorvoula Village.  Now in retirement at our Sanctuary.  She is arthritic and in the colder winter months has to be helped up onto her feet after lying down....

HARITOMENI ARRIVING TODAY BY TRUCK FROM A SMALL VILLAGE IN THE MOUNTAINS, I HAVE REMOVED THE CHAIN HALTER THAT HAD NO BUCKLES BUT WAS TIED TOGETHER WITH RUSTY WIRE AND CUTTING INTO HER NECK. I'LL BE VERY INTERESTED TO SEE HOW SHE COPES WITH HER FIRST NIGHT IN THE FREEDOM OF OUR OLIVE GROVE HARITOMENI...I FOUND HER LYING DOWN IN THE FIELD THIS MORNING, SHE COULDN'T GET UP ON HER OWN, LUCKILY MARIA WAS STILL HERE SO TOGETHER WE MANAGED TO HOIST HER UP, SHE'S FINE NOW BUT I WILL GIVE HER SOME BUTE...

HARITOMENI (CUTEY en) IS DOING VERY WELL ON ANTI- INFLAMITORY INJECTION DAILY,THEY FINISH TOMORROW. SHE CAN GET UP ON HER OWN NOW OR EVEN BETTER WITH A CARROT FOR ENCOURAGEMENT. THE SWELLING IN HER FRONT LEG AFTER THE FALL A MONTH AGO HAS SUBSIDED, I AM JUST SO RELIEVED IT WASN'T A BREAK

ANOTHER RESCUE AT AGIA MARINA TODAY...A DEAR LITTLE BROWN DONKEY, HER NAME IS HARITOMENI ( GREEK = CUTEY) THE ELDERLY OWNER WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO CARE FOR HER, SHE SEEMS IN QUITE GOOD CONDITION APART FROM ARTHRITIS AND STIFFNESS IN THE MORNINGS. ALL THE DONKEYS ARE VERY EXCITED10/2011 : Haritomeni greeting our new donkey Violetta04/2012 : We are very happy to say that Haritomeni is much better & her appetite has returned although she eats and moves very slowly now.
The Vet seems to think that she suffered a slight stroke

Our beautiful big girl Haritomeni with her white eyeliner enjoying her dinner....when she came to us lying in the back of a truck, crippled with arthritis after years of hard work, she was unable to stand for longer than a few minutes at a time.
Now three yrs on she is a strong, healthy donkey with a very sweet nature and loved by all.... hence the name Haritomeni ( Cutey )

Our beautiful big donkey girl Haritomeni fell down last night, with an injection and coaxing we were able to get her up onto her legs and walking early this morning...this has not happened to her for over two years and we will be watching her closely... On one of the pictures, A view of Hari's backside today after her many attempts during the wee small hours of the night to get up onto her feet..she has her own way of getting up, she sits on her bum and lifts herself up...but not always successfully without a helping hand from her carers ..we also have to be so careful of the screwworm fly that lays live worms in animal flesh which can be fatal.

A WARM STABLE FOR HARI

10/2013 HARITOMENI ( Hari ) came to our sanctuary in the spring of 2010.....a large Cyprus Breed hard working donkey very much loved by her owner Giorgios but he could not help her. After months of administering much t.l.c.. medication and massage Hari improved greatly but sadly this autumn she has not been able to get back up after lying down at night, a heavy donkey and takes Fanis & I a lot of lifting up every morning.  Once up she is fine and happy, eating well and enjoying the company of her best friend Pandora.  On one of the pictures, A view of Hari's backside after her many attempts during the wee small hours of the night to get up onto her feet..she has her own way of getting up, she sits on her bum and lifts herself up...but not always successfully without a helping hand from her carers ..we also have to be so careful of the screwworm fly that lays live worms in animal flesh which can be fatal.
OUR GOAL WAS 2000 euros and thanks to all our supporters and a kind donation from Diana and Mark Hermans from Stichting Ezelopvang Kreta, we have reached our goal!
